How to Use the Bick 4 Leather Conditioner to Renourish Your Favorite Leather Articles

The Bick 4 Leather Conditioner is a popular leather care product from the Bickmore brand that offers an all-in-one solution for your leather items. This product can easily clean, condition, polish, and protect your leather purses, boots, saddles, upholstery, or any other leather article.

According to most of the feedback that we’ve received, the directions for the Bick 4 Leather Conditioner are available online but are too short and don’t go into much detail.

This article is a step-by-step guide inspired by how we regularly use the Bick 4 Leather Conditioner to help you achieve the perfect shine for your leather products.

Important Notice: Please note that this product is not designed to be used on suede or nubuck, as it can damage and alter its sensitive texture. For suede and nubuck, it’s best to use dedicated cleaners that are designed for softer leathers.

1. Clean Your Leather Article (Optional)

The Bick 4 Leather Conditioner is known as a comprehensive care product for leather. Therefore, you may either choose to use the cleaning agents in the Bick conditioner or clean your product using a dedicated cleaning solution beforehand.

Cleaning your leather item before conditioning ensures that the softening ingredients can penetrate the leather layers without difficulty.

We recommend using a dedicated leather-friendly cleaner or saddle soap to clear away any dust or dirt from your leather items. Aside from that, you will also need a microfiber cloth for the cleaning process.

Begin by dampening a microfiber cloth and applying a small quantity of leather cleaner or saddle soap to your leather item. Ensure that the cloth is not too wet to protect your leather from possible water damage.

Rub the leather cleaner or saddle soap in circular motions across the entire surface area. Remember to use gentle pressure so that all grime and embedded dust can be removed easily.

Once the surface has been cleaned, take a dry microfiber cloth to clear away any residue on the leather to ensure it is ready for conditioning.

2. Shake the Bottle Well Before Use

Before starting the conditioning process with the Bick 4 Leather Conditioner, you must ensure that all the ingredients are well-mixed. This is why the manufacturer recommends shaking the bottle well before you open it.

This will help incorporate any settled elements in the formula and ensure that you can achieve a great shine on your leather product.

3. Apply the Bick 4 Leather Conditioner

Once you have shaken the Bick 4 Leather Conditioner bottle, you need to apply a generous amount of it onto a clean cloth. Since this wax-free conditioner does not darken your leather nor clog the material’s pores, you can apply it as liberally as you want.

Use a clean cloth to rub the product all over the leather surface and ensure to use gentle pressure. Light pressure will help in the absorption of the conditioner and leave your leather soft and smooth.

If you are not satisfied with the shine and suppleness of just one coat of the product, feel free to apply more. This will help you achieve a better shine and color on your leather material.

4. Let Your Leather Article Dry

Once your leather article has been conditioned allow it to dry completely before use. The drying process is important because it allows the conditioner to set, as the leather absorbs all of the nourishing ingredients.

We recommend drying your leather article in an area that is well-ventilated, cool, clean, and free of moisture and humidity. Moisture and humidity can promote mold and mildew growth, which can be hard to remove and should therefore be avoided.

On the other hand, drying your conditioned leather articles under direct sunlight can cause them to lose their suppleness and become brittle, faded, and dry. To give you some ideas on where to dry your leather items, you may select from the following recommendations:

  • Near a window or door
  • On a shaded porch
  • On a shaded verandah
  • On a balcony
  • Near a fan

5. Buff Your Leather Article (Optional)

Buffing your leather articles can help you develop a shine that just can’t be achieved by simply conditioning it. Moreover, it allows you to protect your leather article from accidental water splashes and keeps other contaminants from soaking in.

Aside from that, it can also help you eliminate any scuff or light scratches on the leather surface and increase the product’s lifespan.

To restore the shine of your leather products and buff them like an expert, you need a soft cloth or a horsehair brush. Allow the last coat of Bick 4 Leather Conditioner to dry for only 30 minutes to one hour before you begin buffing.

Rub the horsehair brush or the soft cloth in quick back-and-forth motions until you achieve a light finish on the leather. Since the Bick 4 Leather Conditioner is not designed as a polishing product, you will only be able to get a lovely subtle gleam with a quick buff.
