Armor All Leather Care Gel

  • Perfect for interior car use
  • Easy to apply & use
  • Cleans & conditions leather

Although this product can be used for any type of leather product, it performs best when applied to the leather interior of a car, including seats, consoles, paneling, and even dashboards.

Unlike most leather care products, Armor All Leather Care Gel helps remove stubborn dust and dirt lodged in your car seats from within the grain of the leather. It also helps prevent aging, stains, cracking, and discoloration of your leather articles.

In this review, we will be covering the ingredients, best usage practices, which leather products it works best with, and sizes of the Armor All Leather Care Gel. We’ve also included a section where we answer some of the most frequently asked questions.

Ingredients

The Armor All Leather Care Gel is a slightly opaque, white-colored conditioning product, with a relatively high viscosity. Although the manufacturer does not disclose most of its contents on the packaging, the Armor All Leather Care Gel is a proprietary formula with a bactericide. Let’s take a closer look at the ingredients:

  • Non-hazardous ingredients – The Armor All Leather Care Gel has proprietary formula containing non-hazardous chemicals and ingredients (with a concentration higher than 99%) that allow it to effectively clean and nourish your leather products.
  • 7-Ethylbicyclooxazolidine – This is an ingredient that is also present in paints, emulsions, non-food contact adhesives, oil fluids, and similar products., as a bactericide. It’s classified as not a Chemical of Concern (CoC), with its concentration being less than 1% in the complete formula.

Where It Works Best

Leather car seats often have embedded dirt or stains that ruin the interior appearance of your car. Armor All Leather Care Gel works in removing these types of stains, keeping your leather seats clean and supple.

Although it works best for car upholstery, the Armor All Leather Care Gel can be used for other leather surfaces in your car as well, such as dashboards, consoles, and paneling. It can not only deep clean any leather surface, but also condition it for increased durability and protection.

How It Protects Your Leather Upholstery

Leather is a natural material that can easily absorb moisture, spills, or dirt when in contact with its surface. Failing to maintain your leather seats properly, can make them look dated and can easily ruin the appearance of your car’s interior.

Getting these accidental stains and dirt out from your leather upholstery is not an easy task; therefore, a dedicated leather cleaner and conditioner like this one is needed for proper maintenance.

The great thing about the Armor All Leather Care Gel is that it has the ability to clean grime, dirt, and fine dust particles from your leather upholstery by reaching into the material’s grain.

Additionally, the product conditions and restores your leather’s natural texture and look, by preventing premature aging, fading, discoloration, and cracking. Moreover, the product also offers a gentle original leather scent that is not too overpowering or strong.

What It Protects Against

Leather car seats are exposed to various elements such as harsh sunlight, humidity, moisture from rain or snow, pressure from the weight of passengers, accidental spills, and much more. Let’s take a closer look at what the Amor All Leather Care Gel can protect against.

  • Aging – The conditioning element of this gel adds the needed oils to renourish your leather to prevent wrinkling. At the same time, the blocking feature protects against premature aging and retains your leather product’s original look.
  • Spills & Stains – Spills and stains are inevitable when you use your car frequently, especially when it comes to children and pets. Armor All Leather Care Gel’s powerful blocking formula protects the leather against stains from drinks and food by making absorption much slower.
  • Cracking – Prolonged exposure to direct sunlight can cause cracking in the leather. You can protect your leather upholstery against brittleness and cracking with this added conditioning and blocking elements.
  • Fading & Discoloration – Direct sunlight can also discolor your leather items or cause them to fade. The conditioning elements in All Leather Care Gel restore your leather seats’ original color and look. In fact, they also add a layer of gloss to them.

Sizes

This product is only available in one size, which is an 18 fluid ounce bottle. According to the manufacturer, one bottle of Armor All Leather Care Gel can be used for up to 20 applications (one application equates to about one leather seat).

When we tested the Armor All Leather Care Gel, we were able to clean and condition 23 leather seats before the bottle was empty. With lighter applications, a bottle will last even longer than that.

Although the product formula remains somewhat similar, there are two other spray variants for this product, with one being a spray with beeswax and another being a spray without beeswax.

Nevertheless, we found the gel variant to be more effective as it leaves a thicker conditioning layer for the upholstery to absorb and regain nourishment. That makes it a little more effective compared to the others.

How Often Do I Need to Use The Armor All Leather Care Gel?

You should maintain your leather upholstery regularly and whenever needed.  The frequency of use generally depends on your area’s climate, upholstery usage, and the quality of the leather product.

We believe using Armor All Leather Care Gel once every 2 – 3 months or whenever you notice fading or cracks will keep them in the best possible condition.

Does Armor All Leather Care Gel Restore Color?

This product can restore certain lightly faded spots caused by dirt and minor stains but cannot restore heavily faded sections or deep discolorations on leather. Take note that there is no dying or coloring agent in this product, therefore, only surface-level discolorations can be restored.

Can I Use Armor All Leather Care Gel on Other Leather Products?

Yes! Although this product is specially designed for leather upholstery, it can be used on vinyl and other car interior components as well. This product can also be used for leather furniture at home, such as leather bar stools, leather couches, leather chairs, and similar articles.

We do not recommend using Armor All Leather Care Gel for your leather clothes or leather accessories since there are more suitable alternatives for them on the market.

Yes, the Armor All Leather Care Gel also conditions your leather car seats aside from cleaning them thoroughly. The conditioning properties of the formula allow it to bring a shine to the material and restore its vibrant color. Moreover, it also adds a protective layer on top of the leather interior to help prevent any future damage and wear.
