How to Use The Armor All Leather Care Gel

The Armor All Leather Care Gel offers leather upholstery the special care and attention it deserves. The advanced leather gel formulation works as a leather cleaner that seeps into the grains to lift and remove soil and dirt.

It also works to protect leather as it leaves behind blocking agents that safeguard against stains and spills and deter fading, cracking, premature aging, and discoloration. Make sure to check out our Armor All Leather Care Gel review to explore all of the benefits, ingredients, best practices, and more information.

While this product can work on any type of leather product, it’s best used for car interiors. You can even apply the gel to your steering wheel, console, paneling, and dashboard.

In this article, we will teach you how to properly use the Armor All Care Leather Gel in 6 simple and easy-to-understand steps.

Important Notice: Make sure to test this gel on a small, inconspicuous area before applying on the entire leather surface. Also remember no to use it on buckskin, suede, fabric, or unfinished leather, as it can ruin the fine texture of these materials.

1. Shake the Armor All Leather Care Gel Bottle

The first thing you need to do is prep the Armor All Leather Care Gel. Shake the bottle with the cap on well before use. This will help mix the contents to allow for even application on the leather surface you wish to clean.

Shaking the bottle for about 10 to 15 seconds is sufficient to do the job. You should still mix the contents well before every application, even if the bottle isn’t new and unopened.

2. Remove the Cap & Foil Seal

Now unscrew and remove the bottle’s cap. Also, remove the foil seal placed right above the opening of the bottle. This foil seal is used to prevent leakage and protect the product from tampering.

Unlike the cap that has to be removed every time you use the product, the foil seal only needs to be removed once.

3. Apply Care Gel to a Dry Cloth

Once you have prepped the gel for use, you can move on to the application process. First, squeeze the required amount of gel on a dry, clean cloth.

You can also apply the product directly to the surface that needs to be cleaned. However, this is not recommended as the gel can slide off or spill from the surface resulting in wastage.

In addition, applying the gel onto a cloth will also help prevent it from getting onto other surfaces such as the windshield, the floor, or the door panels. Using a cloth will also help in evenly applying the gel across the entire surface.

We highly recommended using smaller amounts of the gel and applying it several times rather than using larger amounts in one go. This will allow for even application of the product.

4. Spread Care Gel Evenly

Rub the cloth with the Armor All Leather Care Gel evenly on the surface you want to clean and renew. This can include seats, dashboard, steering wheel, consoles, etc.

While you can use different motions to apply the gel onto the surface, it is best to work in a gentle, circular motion as this will apply an even coat and ensure that your leather upholstery won’t get damaged during the process.

It’s also a good idea to avoid overapplication. You don’t want to drown your leather upholstery in gel, as this could potentially darken it.

5. Remove Excess Product with a Towel

In the final step of using the Armor All Leather Care Gel, you’ll need to remove any excess product using a dry towel. Make sure the towel you use is not damp or moist, as it can wipe away the gel from the surface and compromise its effectiveness.

One important thing to mention here is that when you move from one section of the leather surface to another, do not wring the towel and reuse it.

Rather, use unused parts of the towel to remove excess product from different sections. Repeat this step until you have successfully removed all excess product, leaving behind an even coat.

6. Let Your Leather Upholstery Dry

After you’ve successfully applied the Armor All Leather Care Gel, you will need to let it dry. It’s always best to dry any type of leather naturally in a well-ventilated environment.

While not everyone has access to a garage, you should ensure that your leather upholstery isn’t exposed to direct sunlight, as this can damage your leather. Instead, park it in the shade and leave the windows or doors open for a short while.

Important Tips When Applying The Armor All Leather Care Gel on Leather

There are a few more things we would like to mention when it comes to applying this product to any type of leather surface.

  • Don’t Use Too Much Gel – Start using small amounts of the product first and do multiple applications instead of one large one. This ensures an even and consistent layer.
  • Don’t Mix it With Other Solutions – This formula was developed to clean, buff, and condition your leather upholstery or any other type of leather product. Mixing it with other solutions may cause it to lose its effectiveness.
  • Let Your Leather Dry – If you don’t let your leather upholstery dry enough, the coat won’t be as effective. Moreover, it will also transfer onto clothing when seated.
  • Maintain Your Leather Regularly – You should use this leather care gel regularly to ensure that your leather upholstery is nourished with the right ingredients to avoid it from becoming brittle over time.
