Armor All Leather Wipes Review: A Comprehensive Look

Armor All leather wipes are specifically designed to offer care for your car’s leather interiors. Leather in a car’s interiors is naturally exposed to harsh factors such as heat, sunlight, and humidity, and is thus slightly trickier to care for as compared to a leather sofa that is indoors 24/7.

Armor All Leather Wipes

  • Available in 20, 24, 30 pack
  • Perfect for interior car use
  • Non-toxic & non-hazardous
  • Long-lasting and easy to use

You would therefore want a product that is not only geared towards cleaning for the now, but also protecting your car’s interior for the future. As a specialist product, Armor All is certainly popular amongst car owners who want to go the extra mile to ensure they adequately protect an asset of sizable value.

Ingredients

Armor All doesn’t disclose its exact ingredient list and formulas, likely to prevent knock-off products from entering the market. The company has declared its wipes’ compositions as a proprietary non-hazardous product.

However, we do know that they have two different types of leather wipes, and the main difference between the two is the inclusion of beeswax in one line of wipes.

Between the two lines of wipes, we also do know that the following ingredients are present across the board.

  • Dipropylene glycol butyl ether
  • Surfactants
  • Water-based silicone emulsions

The wipes are moist with an opaque white viscous liquid and are deemed to be in a pH range of 7.5 – 9.0, which is not unusual for cleaning agents. You are also able to confidently handle the wipes with your own hands based on the non-hazardous nature of the product but please discontinue direct skin contact with the wipes if you do realize that you are suffering from any forms of irritations.

Benefits & How It Works

It is true that you are able to make homemade leather cleaning solutions which might be cheaper compared to purchasing the wipes. What the wipes will give you would be convenience as well as portability.

The packaging the wipes come in is easy to store in a car boot or in your store room’s cupboard, and you should be able to easily access the wipes when an unanticipated need arises.

As the wipes are also largely geared toward car interior usage, the product should also be superior in caring for your leather considering the environment and exposure that car leather seats are normally subject to.

Who It’s Made For

The Armor All Leather Wipes are manufactured for the mass market, which means that using it is an easy and direct process. You do not need to be an expert in leather care to be able to use this product effectively.

However, there are certain best practices that we will recommend following that we will be covering later in this article. This is to ensure that you are able to realize maximum value from the leather wipes.

Product Application

Whilst Armor All leather wipes are made with a specific use case in mind; leather care for your car’s interiors, the leather wipes can be used across many different leather products.

Here is a list of common application use cases in that you are able to use the wipes for

  • Leather sofas
  • Heavy-duty top grain leather gloves
  • Heavy-duty top grain leather boots
  • Leather chairs

As you might remember, we do have leather wipes with and without beeswax. We would recommend using the wipe with beeswax only on real leather whereas you are able to consider using the wipe without beeswax on faux leather too.

As you can see, the leather wipes can be used in a very versatile fashion. However, do keep in mind that the product is not meant for the following leather types.

  • Suede
  • Nubuck
  • Buckskin

While the wipes are indeed meant for car interiors, they are also not recommended to be used on vehicle controls such as your gear stick, steering wheel, accelerator, brakes, and clutch. It is also recommended to not use them on glass and clear plastic finishes and trimmings. Needless to say, please do not use the wipes while you are driving as that can be hazardous.

If you are ever in doubt about whether the Armor All leather wipes are suitable for your purpose, we would recommend using the wipe on a small surface area to begin with and observing whether there are any unexpected effects as a test.

Sizes

Depending on how often you plan on using wipes, Armor All has different size options based on your needs. The most common size options available are as follows.

  • 20 wipes
  • 24 wipes
  • 30 wipes

There are also bundled packages available. If you’re looking for a larger pack then the Armor All 3-Pack Leather Wipes may be the right bundle for you. There’s also a special car cleaning bundle that features Armor All Leather Wipes & Cleaning Wipes, if you’re looking for a comprehensive car cleaning set.

Keep in mind that the manufacturer guarantees that your wipes will remain moist a year after purchase if sealed and stored correctly. Do therefore factor how many wipes you will likely be needing across a 12 month period when making your purchase decision.

Frequently Asked Questions

We have compiled a list of the most common questions we have received pertaining to the Armor All leather wipes as below. Do feel free to send us any other questions you might have that we have not covered in this article!

Do Armor All Leather Wipes Leave Streaks?

Personally, we have never encountered Armor All leather wipes leaving streaks in a car’s leather seats. However, it does seem like a number of independent reviews have stated that they have noticed streaks post usage of the wipes.

To be safe, we would recommend using the wipe on a discreet, small area of what you are cleaning and seeing if streaks are noticed upon usage. We would also recommend not applying excessive force when wiping down your leather to ensure that you are not overapplying the cleaning solution to a small localized area.

Are Armor All Leather Wipes Good?

For the most part, the leather wipes do an adequate job at ensuring that my car leather seats are well maintained. They even leave a subtle scent, which is definitely a bonus.

Please, however, do not expect these wipes to be able to instantly clear deep-seated and stubborn stains that have existed for some time. As a general rule of thumb, you would want to treat stains on leather as quickly as possible to give yourself the best chance of getting rid of them.

We do believe that their biggest value proposition remains the convenience and accessibility that they give. Storing a packet in my car boot allows me to easily clean and care for my leather interiors anytime we want without worrying about package leakages or damage.

can armor All be used on leather?

As long as the leather is top-grain and finished leather, Armor All wipes should be compatible to be used. This rules out leather such as Suede and Nubuck. It is also possible to use these wipes on faux leather products.

Do Armor All Leather Wipes Dry Out?

Eventually, all wipes will certainly dry out if they are not sealed and stored correctly. If you were to store and seal the wipes adequately, the wipes should not dry out within a year upon purchase.

Are Armor All Leather Wipes Silicone Based?

Yes, the cleaning solution used contains both surfactants as well as water-based silicone emulsions. Additionally, further ingredients are deemed to be non-toxic and harmful to your skin.
